Open task manager (ctrl-alt-del) & see if there's any LW process running. If there is, end the process.
When you uninstalled LW before, did you do it thru add/remove programs? That can cause problems. The correct way to uninstall is via start > all programs > LimeWire & use the uninstall option there. Usually, installing a new version will automatically remove the old version.

If you can't install a new version, you might have to use your computer's search to look for LW files & folders & delete that way.

Hi Birdy, I'm having the same problem and none of the suggestions go gave have worked. The message I get is "Cannot delet files. Cannot read from the source file or disk". I Have also gotten the dmessage "Windows cannot access the specified devise, path or file. You may not have approval or permission to access." Any other suggestions?

Try deleting the file in safe mode. Or check out the post below for links to some tools. I've used both Unlocker & DelinvFile (ask-leo link) & they worked well
