Unhappy Help Me, This Is Doing My Head In!! (installation problem)

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I really hope someone can help me to re-install limewire. I uninstalled it a while ago due to problems I was having with it starting up whenever it pleased, now I want it back on, I miss downloading new songs, etc.

The problem I'm having is, when I go through the installation process, all is well until half way through when it locates a folder to store Limewire, then it tells me there is still an old version running and I need to exit this before commencing with the download. I have searched for this 'so called old version of Limewire' and can't find it.

What do I do? Can anyone help me please?

You had a virus before that's why it was popping up when ever it wanted..
So use this fix to get rid of it and then re-install Limewire...

Thumbs down Still having trouble....please help!

I'm still getting Limewire popping up every few minutes, telling me that I have corrupted files. I have tried to follow your instructions but the second website that you mention is no longer available. I have downloaded the first and made a BFU folder, now I'm stuck!

I have already uninstalled Limewire, but when I try to reinstall it tells me that I still have an older version running, where is it then? How do I get rid of it?

You need to RIGHT-CLICK on that link and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcra PLUS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Default One more thing before you go....please!

Hi, I bet you're really sick of me now aren't you? You must think I'm a right dunce!

You've really helped me so far, but I've never done anything like this before and I'm finding it difficult. I've now created the BFU folder and downloaded the Alcra PLUS Remover into it. Now I don't see the option to 'execute' like you say. When I right click on the folder there are just the usual options, so I chose 'open' and it said that Windows cannot open this file as it does not recognise what created it.

What now??

Does this explain it a bit better....
Please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
  • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon and select alcanshorty.bfu Press Execute and let the program do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.) Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
  • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
  • Go back to the C:\BFU folder Double-click on sidekickFix.bat
  • Click Yes and follow the prompts, when prompted to restart the PC please do so.
