Remove your Java & then uninstall using the Offline Java installer. Also delete your LW prefs folder if you have one. See instructions here Fixes for Limewire.

If that doesn't fix it. Go to Start menu -> Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.
Then download & run this version Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!

Re: Firewalls you can set them up yourself to allow LW; see Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Otherwise I think we need more details; System details - help us to help you (click on link)

Default just found this thread below

sorry to add this now but just found this below ,
Just downloaded limewire
Then uninstalled my JSE2 Java thingy (yes, great terminology for an ex-computer science student)
Then unistalled Limewire
Then reinstalled Java
Then reinstalled Limewire... I have downloaded the on-line and off-line versions to end up with the following results:

Limewire setup dialog box telling me to allow access (which I already have)
AND, the limewire box in the background just "loading HTML engine" I know it's not loading cause there is no activity going on with my internet connection!!!!

I'm lost... what have I done wrong... Why isn't it working?

right that is the exact same problem i am having , this bloke just explained it a lot better .
any ideas
thank you in advance

You are aware aren't you that TalkTalk shape bandwidth against p2p programs at various times of the day.

Again, if you have any, delete the LW prefs folder. Make sure XP firewall is properly configured to allow LW: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Try the other option in the Fixes for LW: Try changing compatibility mode to win 2k or win NT. Try both.

How did you remove LW in the 1st place? If ou used the add/remove control panel then that's the problem. Errors due to mistakenly uninstalling LW using Add/Remove control panel - what to try now. Read from here onward!
