"One or more necessary files appear to be invalid. This is generally caused by...???

Hi,
I'm having an aggravating problem. My sister downloaded Lime Wire on my computer. Now there is a constant pop-up message on my computer that says, "One or more necessary files appear to be invalid. This is generally caused by a corrupted installation. Please try downloading and installing Lime Wire again. If problem persists, contact Lime WIre support." I re-dowloaded and re-installed the program. Whenever I try to delete Lime Wire, it doesn't allow me to because it says I cannot because Lime Wire is still running. But it is NOT running, not even in the system tray. Can any one please help me? I want to get rid of Lime Wire and the popup. Thanks. Nick

Open Task Manager (ctrl/alt/del)...see if there's a LimeWire process running. If there is, end the process. If you've been trying to uninstall via Add/Remove Programs, that's the wrong way & can cause problems. The correct way to uninstall is via Start > All Programs > Limewire & use the uninstall option.

If you've tried to uninstall via Add/Remove, you might have to use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with Limewire in the name & delete that way.

If you continue to get the popup after LW's uninstalled, ask your sister whether LW was popping up all by itself & refusing to stay closed. If that was the case, you probably have a worm & should read the post below;)
