Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. ERROR 1606 and ERROR 1607 HI, I installed LIMEWIRE 2.1.1. Everything went well until Downloading ISSCRIPT.MSI The File was nearly completly downlaoded, but in the end, it showed the mesage: ERROR 1607, Unable to install INSTALLSHIELDSCRIPTING RUNTIME. O.k., I read all the faq's, and I was told to download ISScript Installer, I run it and the Message : ERROR 1606 Could not Access Network Location was shown. O.k., I read the faq'a again and it was told looking in the >Windows>Installer-Folder. All hidden folders are shown. The only file I found in that folder is: 23d8a.msi I rightclicked on it, but there was no secure-tab. So, now I don't know, what to do. Limewire 1.6d was installed with no probs. My system is a PII-450 on Asus P3BF -Board with WIndows 98SE. My Connection is T-DSL via D-Link EthernetCard. I uninstalled all limewire-Progs, and restartet my computer. The Java-Prog is running, also IE 5.5 Thanks for a solution sidolin Last edited by sidolin; January 18th, 2002 at 06:28 AM. |

Sidolin- Thanks for the thorough look at the FAQs before posting. The 1606 error, as you said, means that the installer is having trouble accessing some network location, which could also just mean an external drive. Did you download the installer directly to your primary hard drive (the one with your system files on it)? If not, I would recommend trying that and running the installer again. |

One solution for Error 1607 Had the same prob, NONE of the FAQ solutions worked. I was logged on as a user, with my folders unavailable to anyone but me, on a second partitioned drive. Then I tried logging on as the default user, put the install program in the programs folder, installed it there, and it worked. Jonathan |

Still not running Hi, thanks for the many help-suggestions. But they all don't work, the first not because I downloaded it directly to C:\limewire the second not because there's only 1 HDD with only one Partition. I tried a lot the last day, but it still doesn't work. Everytime I would like to run the ISSCRIPT INSTALLER, I get the Error-Message: 1606: COULD NOT ACCESS NETWORK LOCATION But it's a single PC, the only Network-Solution is for T-DSL. I Run 2 Patches against Micrsosoft-Bugs in the Internet-Explorer. Maybe it's that. But I don't know how to Unistall these Patches. But they are provided by Microsoft, so I think they should be o.k. (Patches against bugs for running IE 5.5 with the German T-Online Internet-Provider). Thanks, Mike Last edited by sidolin; January 19th, 2002 at 09:52 AM. |

Mike- Here's InstallShield's description of this error. Only we have access to the directory table in the installer, but it looks fine. Is it at all possible that the installer is unable to access certain directories?? Thanks. Error 1606 is thrown by the CostFinalize standard action. One purpose of CostFinalize is to verify that all target directories are writable before allowing the installation to continue. If a directory table entry has been specified but the Installer is unable to resolve the path, this error will occur. For example, if you define INSTALLDIR as "Y:\MyFolder," and the Windows Installer cannot find a Y drive on the target machine, error 1606 will be thrown. This error can also occur when illegal characters or syntax are used within the directory table. |

It works! Hi everybody , LIMEWIRE IS RUNNING! But for sure: I don't know, what kind of problem this was. How did it work? O.k., I was running my Windows 98SE round about 2 and a half year, with a lot of installing and uninstalling software, e.g. shareware and freetools. So I decided to erase my whole HDD and install a new, fresh and fast running windows (THis time, i installed two, one for experimenting and one for all my work ;-) ) And? Installing was no problem. So I think, it might be a wrong syntax in my directory-table as you mentioned. So far, thanks for all the help. Bye, Mike |

InstallShield has reported that these errors can occur with some non Microsoft Networks, and their recent update reportedly has fixed this issue. We will be using their most recent update for the next LimeWire release, but we have not fix until that is out the door(which could take several weeks). |
