Default JDK 1.4.0 BETA Install Issues

Gentlemen:

There appears to be a problem with the current, (2.1.1) installer for Windows and it's failure to recognize the newest JDK 1.4.0.

I'm running Windows 2000 with JDK 1.4.0Beta and the installer thinks that I don't have the JRE installed, so it insists on installing an older version of the JRE on top of my existing one. While this appears to be harmless for Limewire, I'm concerned about the interaction with the existing jdk, so I want to remove the JRE.

With that in mind, I have 2 questions/requests:

1. Request: Please modify the installer to recognize the new JDK. It would, in all likelyhood, make your lives easier , in fact, as JDK 1.4 includes all the xerces and apache XML/DOM classes in the core API, reducing the size of the installer, (you needn't include xerces.jar.)

2. Question: If I want to remove JRE 1.3, what are the dependencies? Can I simply modify the shortcut that points to the RunLime.jar file so that it now uses %JAVAHOME%\bin\javaw.exe? Obviously, I'll need to include the same parameters. I know it'd be simpler just to leave the JRE where it is, but as a developer, I'd prefer a clean environment.

I'd appreciate your advice in this matter.
