![]() I tried to install Limewire today. Everything went smoothly and checked off, and I feel like im in the clear . I get to the final part where I have to go get java, so I get the little pop-up after trying to run limewire and I click OK. I install the Java installer, and I finally get to the part where I have to install java itself.. Well, turns out ive already installed Java (Even though I never have) And it asks me if I want to reinstall it, so I click OK. Well, I get another pop-up saying that in order for me to do this the product has to already be on my computer.. It confused me . I didnt know if I already had java, or if I didn't. Im not sure what to do - I tried reinstalling certain things, deleting ALL java files possible and reinstalling and nothing. ![]() Please help! Im going to have to send a picture to fail-blog soon.... |

![]() Try uninstalling all Java versions (via Add/Remove Programs). Then run the MS cleanup utility mentioned in this post: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post333278 Then reinstall the offline JRE version of Java (see above thread). Next, install LW from the link in the above thread. |

![]() This still has not worked. I used MC first, and it didnt really do much, and then use CC which looked like it was able to fix the problem. Cleaned out the Sun Java app (which was the only java folder CC had listed) and tried again. Still, nothing changed. |

![]() I still have no idea which Windows OS you're using. Remember with Vista you need to be logged in as Admin. And in some cases need to set the installer to Admin by right clicking it. Sometimes also need to change compatibility mode of the installer. Sounds silly but sometimes that works. Vista 'requires' Java 6. If using XP or earlier, perhaps you could try the earlier version Java, namely JRE 5.11 offline version Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 (Choose JRE version) Something else to try, though it probably will not make any difference if LW is not seeing Java, Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use! |
