First things first, make sure your system resources are up as high as possible. Most people end up with a bunch of programs all running at the same time, which will cause all sorts of problems, including yours.
If you have any icons for programs you are not using in the system tray (next to the clock), then you have stuff running that shouldn't be. What OS (operating system) are you using?

The LimeWire player can skip, get Real back or try Winamp.

Are you trying to use the player built into LimeWire? Mine doesn't seem to work at all!
