XP bug still there The ERegistryExecption (at 0x00075BC6) still occurs if the user is not in the administrator's group. Obviously, this is a permissions issue. A reasonable alternative to fixing the bug is identifying the needed privilege so that it could be granted. |
The out of resources error still occurs with about the same frequency. |
Getting even more of these now. Should this not be getting better instead of worse? HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EListError Exception message:List index out of bounds (53) Call stack: [0041816E] [0041816E] [0043DF4A] [00421C16] [005254D9] |
May just be the nature of the beast, by chance connected to right host at right time-- but after putting in 1.4 beta some of the old downloads that had been lanquishing for a couple of weeks went through overnight. Looks great so far. |
Unregistered with the: "Unhandled exception EListError Exception message:List index out of bounds (53) " error. Can you provide is with Operating system ( wXP, w98?) and when that occurs? Does it happen when doing a certain action like searching or trying to move a file... whatever. Any info to track this bug would be helpful, thanks :) |
Re the Unregistered with the: "Unhandled exception EListError Exception message:List index out of bounds (53) " error. Running XP SP1 IE6 It happens all the time, just hapened twice while I was replying to this message. Any help would be appreciated. (three times now, oops four) |
Download Times So far very good- I been getting download speeds in excees of 200kbps on a 600kbps cable modem. Just one minor problem: alot of my downloads keep hanging on 99% for a long time. |
FWIW, getting quite a lot of these: HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EThread Exception message:Thread Error: There are no more files (18) Call stack: [004208FC] [00420935] [0050BA10] [0051E2A5] [0044A30A] [0044D100] [0044D238] [0044D100] [0044CD7B] [00421C16] Running on W98. Sure way to make this happen is to hit Apply in preferences, but does seem to happen "on it's own" as well. |

Also, my larger downloads now go so far, say a download section was dropped due to invalid information, and then reset back to a previous percentage. This is a continual occurance, and I find that by closing XOLOX every 1 percent increase and rebooting my system, I can occasionally hold on to that extra percent increase when the error crops up again. I have a lot of files on pause as I am trying to get some things quickly. Also some files seem to say they are now 0bytes or 38bytes long, while they were over 1Mb when commenced. Running w98 1st ed on P4 1.6Ghz |
XP Pro resources This version is eating up all of my CPU resources. Task Manager reports that I'm pegging out at 100% of CPU when I use the Beta. If I close the beta, then I not longer have the problem. |
re: XP Pro resources FYI....I removed the beta version of the program and rolled back to version 1.32. That did not seem to fix the problem, so I removed that version as well. Next, I deleted some of the text files and reinstalled 1.32. That did seem to fix the problem. Finally, I'm attempting to load version 1.4 beta again. So far, so good. Weird problem. It might have been associated with the virus my partner loaded this week, though the virus was eradicated and neither she nor I have experienced problems with any other program. Anyhow, I did experience the same issue reported with files not downloading completely. I'm going back to test that again. |
Going well so far So far so good with the new 1.4. Quite a few things that were on my download list for over 2 months have been comming through by the dozens. The only problem that I have noticed is that I get almost no search results at all. Or very few at the least, no matter what time of day I try. I had a lot more results with your past version. Example, searching for something like "Disney", with the last version I would get anywhere from 300-1000 results, and now less than 100. And I have tried doing that search many times over the past few days. But overall, the program is as great as I have come to expect from you guys,(or gals - whatever the case may be). Thanks for all your hard work. |
I get the same exact error from 1.4 and 1.32 It happpens as soon as Xolox starts, everytime. I am running WinXP SP1 on a PII 400MHz with 320MB RAM HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EAccessViolation Exception message:Access violation at address 0050F1B4 in module 'xolox.exe'. have been trying to download a video file for two days now, have gotten to 90% complete 4 times, and xolox crashed each time and lost it. :) But, other files have downloaded VERY quickly. Will post error messages when it crashes again, if that would be helpful to you. I am running win xp pro, service pack 1. also, this is happenening as well.... Quote:

Auto-startup error/shutdown error/Freezing temporarily Three problems with the beta: 1. I get an error when trying to turn off the autostartup of xolox when windows starts up. This message has been reported automatically. (This was not a problem in 1.32) 2. I get error messages when exiting xolox. These error messages do not get reported to xolox. (This problem also happens in 1.32) 3. The beta seems to take up processing power which causes temporary "freezes" in the computer lasting a few seconds. The freezes occur every few seconds. (This problem was not in the Beta). |
Shutdown error When I exit Xolox by right clicking on the taskbar icon, I get the following error: Exception EOleError in Xolox.exe at 000F689E. This error happens with 1.32 and with the 1.4 beta. The error is not auto-reported to xolox. |
Impossibly high transfer rate reported I noticed a transfer item with an impossibly high transfer rate, some, above 600. That's about 6X the total bandwidth out of the network I am on. Plus, the percentages were not changing at a rate that would be commeasurate with that rate, so I'm pretty sure it was not due to the file being highly compressable or any other effect that would cause those nuimbers. In general, 1.4 seems far more stable than 1.32 on WinXP. |
May not be deleting preview files I previewed a download twice, and got the same short clip the second time as the first time. That is, it appears I got the same file, and that it was not deleted or replaced with a longer preview file the second time I did a preview. |

Thanks to all that have been reporting feedback. There is a second build 455 and the 'download link' on the first post of this thread. Every new build will be posted at the top there ( and also http://www.xolox.nl/client/software/beta_testers.shtml ) thanks Also note, the people reporting extra CPU usage. This is normal part of hashing your library and only occurs until hashing is complete. The larger the library, the longer it will take. thanks :) |
Let me tell you about my BUG Yep, it sure downloads faster..... BUT IT DOES NOT SAVE THE COMPLETED FILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me pretty happy to have shared all night, and recieved SFA! Have done mega searches... the files are gone. The partials (from previous ver.) are gone to. Running XP PRO w/SP1 |
Installed build 455 Still getting lots of these HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EListError Exception message:List index out of bounds (35) Call stack: [0041816E] [0041816E] [0043DF4A] [00421C16] [00525539] |
Frequent Error As stated in the previous post, I get this message too. It happens VERY frequently. When I open the program I get this about 60% of the time. And it happens 100% of the time when I click "Apply" in properties. It will save some of the property changes, but will NOT allow me to enable virus scanning. It won't save that change. Quote:
|
Re: Frequent Error I guess I should have mentioned, I'm running Win98SE and Xolox 1.4 Beta 1 Build 455. Also, I am experiencing the problem with completed downloads not being saved anywhere that has been mentioned before. Quote:

Error I get the following error every time I start the beta (build 455): Version: '1.4 Beta 1 build 455' Error message: 'HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EListError Exception message:List index out of bounds (19) Call stack: [0041816E] [0041816E] [0043DF4A] [00421C16]' I am using Win ME. |
Sluggish perfomance Build 455 performs very sluggishly to mouse and keyboard. Something is severely wrong. Doesn't crash on exit. |
Crash on launch I had XoloX downloading a variety of files when I originally crashed (bug report sent automatically by XoloX) and now evertime I launch I get the following error: HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EConvertError Exception message:'9.634434E7' is not a valid integer value Call stack: [0040936E] [0050A381] And XoloX forces me to quit and restart which doesn't help because I get this error everytime the program starts, even after reboot. Please help, I don't want to switch clients!! I guess I'll have to go back to v1.32 or do a uninstall-reinstall of 1.4 huh? Tom |

Try removing/renaming your resumeinfo.txt ( in the c:/program files/xolox folder ). I am curious if that is the problem - a corrupt or incompatible resumeinfo.txt now that hashing is used. let me know.. thanks. |
No, that doesn't help. |
Beta Report I upgraded to the beta version because I had been getting a large number of Out of Sockets errors with the release version -- I had to restart Xolox 8-10 times in 8 hours. It seems to have gotten much worse in the past two weeks. My System: 850 MHz Athalon, 512 Mb memory, Windows XP, without Service packs Anyway -- pluses and minus of the beta version Plus: Files are downloading faster -- I've got a large backlog of files that never downloaded under the release version that are suddenly comming in. Plus: Beta version dies much less often that the release version. When it does die, I also send the error report to you (but not Microsoft) Minus: About 1/3 of the downloaded files have hash errors -- a message box appears telling me about the error when the file finishes downloading. I didn't ever see this in the release version |

If you close xolox while preferences are open you'll get memory access violations/program crash. And I always love the errors windows gives w/ the address 'FFFFFFFF'.. That would be the last byte of ram IF you had 4GB, which I doubt many of you do, if any. |
Error in new build Still getting following error with build 457 beta and Windows ME: Exception EOleSysError in "SocketDataAvailable" Bytes read:130 Total bytes read:20293 Exception message:Invalid class string Connection type:100 Connection buffer length:130 |
Gamer ( lol we could just talk in chat) , Which build were you using in repsect to the closing error while preferences is open? I cannot even keep the preferences window open and close xolox in b457. Even leaving it open and killing the process, doesn't throw me any errors. --- thanks to all for the feedback thusfar |

Kayaman: Happens to me in B457 about 75% of the time, perhaps it's an XP thing.. Anyways, no big deal.. There is that other small problem in prefs though: If you hit advanced network options all the preferences are reloaded, so if you changed anything without hitting apply it'll be reset to its last state. Havent checked to see if this was fixed in the newest release, although you didnt mention it. |
great I updated to 461 and its great, downloads are still slow but theres nothing really wrong with that........ ----->the only problem i have is i have a lap top with a p4 2ghz 80gig hard drive and xp with pack1, but when my computer goes un-used for about 20min XoloX shuts down |

reviews • user testimonials sorry but who wrote these ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,xolox is an ok program but no where near kazza or winx,,,took me 3 days to download a 444mb file wiht xolox it was just restart after restart,,, if may give some advise dont worry about faster down loads than the rest because you just cant beat then ,it's no good having a fast download if when you get up in the morring to find xolox stoped working 5mins after you went to bed so nothing was down loaded ,just make a stable program,,fix that then look at the rest,,,most ppl have giving up on xolox because it's to unstable. yours (not having a go at you) oni |
Getting better Win98SE, all available patches and updates installed from windows update site, maintained religiously (defrag, scandisk, SFC), only the bare minimum of programs hogging resources at startup, PIII 400mhz, 128mb RAM, plenty of hard drive space across multiple partitions, connected via 10/100 ethernet card to XP server w/DSL internet connection....... ===================== Ok, so after a fretful time with 1.4 b455 and b457, I returned to 1.32 both times. Unfortunately, 1.32 was crash after crash for me, every 5 minutes or so. It was bad before trying 455 and 457, but much worse after uninstalling and going back to 1.32. Today, I'm giving it a go with b461. So far, knock on wood, it has not shut down once. The constant problem I have with Xolox (happened with 1.32, not just 1.4) is that I never seem to be connected to very many hosts. I can set it for a minimum of 10 and only be connected to 3 hosts 99% of the time. Most downloads are reasonable, while some are painfully slow. I imagine that download speeds are only as good as the best connection rate (i.e. you or the client you are downloading from). 461 seems to have corrected the error messages on startup, shutdown, "apply" when in preferences, and the problem with the disappearing/not saved downloads. Will leave it running for the rest of the day and overnite and see what happens. But overall, a much more stable build than 457. |
Installed 451, still getting errors, although maybe not quite to many, I think there was about twenty minutes between them, which is a great improvement. Re: Getting better Ok, so after giving 461 a go for the day, it has crashed twice. Both times it produced errors such as "Exception EAccess Violation in module XOLOX.EXE....". Not only that, but it produced Internet Explorer errors too long to post here. Seems to be getting harder and harder to maintain host connections (i'm averaging about 2 most of the time now). But the program is more stable. Keep at it. Quote:
