Default Downloads hang at 99%

Xolox client 1.4 Beta 1 build 455
Windows 2000 Pro SP3
Intel P4 1.8 GHz
1500/128 DSL

I have had two very large (200MB+) downloads hang at 99%, while a third download of the same size completed successfully. It is common for me to have many downloads sitting in my queue for days (or weeks) at 90-99% completion, but I was watching these as they should have completed, and they didn't.

I have also experienced more SAFE DOWNLOAD MODE downloads with build 455, but that's probably just a coincidence.

The increase in safe download modes is more probably has to do with the hosts uploading the files. You downloads hang because Xolox is still trying to work out the last peice of the file, which is where the most file problems build up. (It is often at the end of a file that the most frequently changed data is stored; therefore, making it hard for Xolox to find an end that fits what it already has.) Additionally hosts sometimes will dissconnect before Xolox has become satisfied with the file (automatically closing when transfers are complete)

I see. Extra bits of fluff do sometimes get appended to files, causing their size and CRC to change from the original. This would cause a download to stick at 99% until a copy of the file with the matching end-block were located.

Is it currently possible to force a partially downloaded file to be moved to the download folder? There could be a "save cancelled download files" preference, or a "cancel download and save file" right-click menu item.

You can copy file out of the temporary downloads folder. Just simply change the extension to match the type of file you were downloading. Note: some file types will not work with out the end.
