These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

1.5 - *much improved* build 712 Minor problems fixed, added the resource file for metadata search testing. future versions working on bandwidth shaping --- New build 710 does some minor bug fixes and add's metadata search ( still to be debugged/tested) --- 1.5 leapfrogs 1.45 and 1.46 and the many other beta's put out for testing, but never set to publicly updated for lacking in certain areas which have now been optimized. This new *beta* 1.5 implements full Ultrapeer &leaf mode and along with many other internal changes making connectivity and searching dramatically better. For all those of you that have had either connecting or searching problems with previous builds, updating to this new version is a must! Metadata searching is already completed in this version as well (afiak), just not accessible while the search panel is completed in following builds. Note, this *is* a beta and if you're in UP mode you must take into account you will use more resources. Feedback and bug reports much appreciated! Enjoy Click here to Download 1.5 Last edited by KayaMan; March 4th, 2003 at 12:53 PM. |

Beta 1.5 I appreciate the effort that the folks at Xolox put forth to improve a great product. I prefer to use it for several reasons, but that is not the subject of my note. I have Beta tested virtually every version, and have noted continual improvements. When will Xolox explain what the improvements actually are? for example: Full Ultrapeer and leaf modes , alter these beta settings in network > advanced. • Metadata search ( not accessible yet in beta, but completed). • GGEP support implemented There is no explanation for Ultapeer - Leaf - GGEP etc. How can I properly test if I have no understanding of these functions? I'm not a P2P guru, neither am I an idiot. I'm sure there are a lot more folks out there that know less than I, and have the same questions. Xolox, please consider implementing a comprehensive help function. I'm sure many of us would find it beneficial! Thanks! Jayboid |

On gnutella, you are either in one of 2 modes ( minus a normal peer); Ultrapeer or leaf. Ultrapeers are usually servants/user with good uptimes and a broadband+ connection. They have leafs connected to them, sheilding them from much of the gnutella traffic and handling it more effeciently. there will be a another build out tuesday with more issues addressed and i will try to get more info for all. |

bug report This bug is a pisser! It has happened twice to me. Xolox crashed with the following message: Thank you very much for reporting this error: Version: '1.5 Beta 1 build 710' Error message: 'HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EHandleOsError Exception message:Exception occured in Xotella.FileHasherTimerTimer Exception: EThread Message: Thread creation error: Not enough quota is available to process this command Prev call stack: [0042090C] [0052BCAB] [005287D9] [0043E442] [00421D2E] [0053E8A0] Call stack: [0052882B] [0043E442] [00421D2E] [0053E8A0]' Team XoloX bugs@xolox.nl XoloX home ******************************** Here is list of files in the Xolox directory: downloads file folder graylist.txt hostlist.txt blacklist.txt cachehosts.txt ask.ico uninstall.exe xolox.exe templist.exe The effect of this bug was to wipe out the file that holds all my partial transfers! I had about 5 pages full of files I was trying to transfer and after this bug crashed Xolox all the files I was trying to transfer disappeared from the transfer page. As I said this is the second time it has happened, first time was in version 1.41, the second time was under version 1.5 beta 1 build 710. System is a custom built box running a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor, an ASUS P4PE motherboard with 512Mb of DDR SDRAM. You may reach me at PAUL@COURRY.COM |

give me a workaround for this? Could you give me a list of the files that I need to backup in order to recover from this bug? I'll just shut Xolox down once a day, back up these files and restart. When the bug strikes again I'll restore the files and recover my partial transfers. Of course I could back up the whole directory, but I am leary of overwriting files such as cachehosts or graylist without understanding what these files contain. Thanks! |

Have gradually worked my way through the 1.5 betas (now into build 740) all have been buggy but the improved interface is keeping me trying! Often the only way I've been able to coax Xolox into action is to delete all the text files from the program directory and reinstall. This of course means I lose my resume list but once the program is running you can shut it down, restore the resumeinfo.txt file and things seem to be ok again. Interested about the Ultraleafs - I'm connected on high bandwidth low spec PC & Xolox once connected to Gnutella slows my machine enormously - far more than any pre 1.5 version. Is this a consequence of the change in hadling P2P transfers or just that the beta code doesn't like my machine? Keep it coming!! m ) |
