Browse Speciffic Host I would like to browse a hosts shared directory by, for example, right clicking on the download/upload string. If, for example, I see someone is downloading "Señor Coconut" from me, it might be cool to take a look at that particular users files, because he obviously has good taste. I rememeber having this option when I was using BearShare. If the another user allowed it, you could browse his shared directory. I do not know if it is at all possible to retrieve a users shared directory by sending one ore more search queries, I guess most clients would block them? Thanks for listening! FYI According to the Limewire/Feature Request Forum, they are going to implement the browse host feature. The thread started as a poll the development started, called "Sticky: Poll: What feature would YOU like?". Anyway, browse host in Xolox would be great. It can be treated as just another search and get a separate search-results tab. |
Hmm... only if this is optional! Morgwen |
Why would you want to browse one computer when you can look at files from thousands? |
I find it interesting to view individual shared folders.I've also gotten so great leads to music I was unaware of. |
browse a user's shares is (together with a chat) a great community feature. Find one song of your taste and look for more. |
Gnutella and morpheus had a function that has been dropped that I would like to see reinstated. When a specific file was located on a search, it was possible to view the rest of the files that person was sharing and also possible to instant message them. I realize the current versions that allow downloading from multiple sourses conflict with this old option, but it is worth bringing this back. I often used this function to discover new music--if someone has a song I like they are likely to know music I don't that I will like too. One time I saw I was downloading from someone who was downloading from me and struck up a long conversation, better because we had this obscure musician in common. I really miss this function on the new p2p versions. The chat groups and forums just aren't as focused and interesting, they don't focus in as well on shared interests. |
Morpheus = Gnucleus with ads, spyware and bugs. |
