Cool High-Speed Only Section

It would be so great if Xolox made a special connection for "high speed only" users. Another requirement would be that they have to share a certain number of megs of files too.

Just a thought. I'm tired of giving, giving, giving and not receiving much.

mmh, - someone could certainly customize (preferrably an open-source client) to create a private gnutella network for high speed connections / sharing lot's of files. - The problem is, how are you going to get enough users for such a network?

Shareaza is a new Gnutella client.
It is very good. You must ignore the comments from Taliban as they are not correct.
You can find the address for Shareaza's site and for downloading elsewhere in these forums.

Thumbs down High speed only section

I think it would be a terrible mistake to have a high speed only section. have you noticed how the web is slowly becoming the property of corporations. Completely the opposite of how it was intended to be. FREE exchange by all . no snobbery or class distinctions which i notice is becoming quite commom amongst high speed users.;You should be happy u have the high speed and know that more and more will be hopping in the high speed boat weith you. instead high speed users semm to be trying their best toexclude others and become some sort of country club that only allows a certain class of users. unacceptable!!

That user could have meant a high-speed section to download from only. It's frustrating to find what you want and then spend an eternity attempting to download it only to get some kind of packet error in the 9th inning.

As far as who we share with, why should we block anybody? Most-if not all of us- started out in the dialup wasteland (Compuserv on a 2400 bps connection anyone?) Feel free to jump on my broadband any time!

Yeah, I agree with Ironman's agreement with Gamer

The beauty of the net is for good, no class distinction, no ignorant prejudism, its fantastic. Having some sort of "high speed members only club" is a part of it. I'm not interested in seeing p2p turn into some country club. Whether you're using DSL, Cable, 56k, 24k, godforbid 300k net access. (I still remember the day of 300 baud modems! I had one on my Apple IIGS!) I am happy to share with you. Speed has nothing to do with it, and I have no intention of blocking a user because of their speed. This is why I support Xolox with such fervor. Xolox is run without any option of prejudice, and I hope it stays that way. I don't want to be given such an option to block slow access. All for one and one for all I say.

I understand the recent turn of expectation. Everyone expects the file they request to download in 5 minutes or less no matter the fie. I say get used to waiting. The world today is so obsessed with instant gratification these days, and there seems to be no place for patience. Well, patience is a virtue my friends and if you are willing to wait then you will get what you want. The whole world isn't carrying that single file you want so just wait. Go see a movie. Wait, you'll get it eventually.

To agree with Wolf's agreement of Ironman's agreement of Gamer's statement, think of it as the Gnutella God's way of saying, "Stay connected longer so others may download from you also. Be kind to others and share. "

Ah grasshopper, someday you shall surpass the master.
