Some suggestions Rufus Hi Folks! A fine program so far and I think with a little combined effort of all users (and dvelopers :-)) it will get even better. So I am looking at other programs and there are some small and easy-to-implement features wich I am missing. Would be nice to find them in future releases. - periodical (and/or user-initiated) rescan (reindexing?) of the shared files. The only way I have found until now is to restart the program or to change some share settings. This is nice when changing the directory contents p.ex. over the network. - resuming aborted files. At the moment the only way I know is to search again and if you have luck to find it... - upload log entries wich stay after the upload finished (a status "completed"/"aborted"/... would be fine). These could be cleared with a similar flag like for the downloads. Maybe I'm wrong with this (I will check config) and it's already there but for the moment it seems to be not. Some thoughts for the moment. Any comments or arguments about/against? Have Fun! |

Shared files are currently rescaned every 10 or 15 minutes (I'd have to go looking for the thread, but I just woke up, so I'm not going to) There is bo need to resume aboted files, simply pause them instead. An upload log may be nice, but not one that resides in memory. The program is designed so that a large number of files may be shared, and running out of memory whilst keeping a record of the status of every finished or aborted upload would be bad. If this is done, create a log file on the disk and append to it. |

Rufus There is need to be able to resume aborted files. It happened already twice that when I tried to pause some files (about 10) I clicked accidentially on "abort" instead of "pause" on one of them. Well, 600MB gone, but after that I had to search the file again wich at this moment was not availible (was not found). When I would be able to resume (restart) aborted downloads the mess wouldn't be that big when (accidentially) transfers are aborted. Another reason for aborting instead of pausing would be if your disk space gets low. Using pause will not make it better. When you abort some files (of minor importance) you will get space to finish some others. But then at the moment you have the "trouble" finding them. |

i don't think you need a resume-tool for aborted files. if you don't find it via a search, xolox may not find soemone to download it anyway. i'm missing a possibility, to scan the shard directory of someone who downloads from my place. because if this one's somebody with a rather fast connection, i might be finding something else to download in reverse from his files, with the same speed, i hope. and please, set the speed settings to max by default. nobody finds the 'max' by himself, unless he's lookin here in the threads. greetings trycksy |

so, kick the little guy to the back of the Q as long as the the big guys get what they want without others cluttering things up. i dont think that the 'sharing' ethos is best served by anyone with this attitude. otherwise all we would be able to find is top ten chart stuff. what about people who are looking for more obscure music or software and are also willing to share obscure material. it may be weeks before anyone d/ls does that mean they are not entitled to their rightful place in the Q and should be shunted to the back by kylie, westlife and robbie fans? |
