Searching indicator...

Well even an indicator of the search in progress would be useful to know when the search is complete...

A search in Xolox is never actually complete, as Xolox will keep on searching as long as you keep the search window open. If nothing happens this only means that there are no new files found, but still Xolox will periodically try and look if someone new connected in the meantime who has files that match your search terms.

Thank you for the advice.

Is that confirmed?
I thought automatic researches are performed for active downloads only.

Hi Moak!

Xolox is searching when is downloading or not, but if you have a failure you habe to resume the search manually!

Noooooo ... as far as I understand an open search tab will be searched again and again for eternety. Wasn't it posted as a future change that the time between these searches will be increased by 200 percent? I seem to remember something like that.

That might be a waste of bandwith (as long as we have no query caching servants). Can you point me on the postings where this has been discussed? Thx, Moak

Try this here. Second message. It's not stated outright that open search tabs will continue searching, but why would they want to shut them down after an hour if they don't?

Moak November 5th, 2001 05:46 AM

Because you're search is runned out (all peers withion your horizon have answered).

I still think automatic researches are performed for active downloads only. I'll investigate that...

So? Why would that be a problem? Set up a search, let it run, go grab a bite and watch a movie. Come back three hours later and check what it found... why would they want to shut it down in the meantime?
