Default XP SP2, No Firewall, Linksys Wireless, Connection Drops!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Troubleshooting Hour: 43.2

So does anyone actually support this software?

Here is the problem I am having. It seems to be a rampant issue for people, and there doesn't seem to be an answer anywhere...

I'm using XP SP2. THE FIREWALL IS DISABLED. Everyone's firewall is disabled. The firewall is not the issue. If the firewall were the issue, the instructions on the limewire.com website on how to enable the port are outdated for SP2. It's absurd that no one has fixed that. Once again, though... let's be clear... THE FIREWALL IS OFF.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Are you, or are you not, the black angel of death?

I either get an error message saying I'm not connected to the Internet, but my browser and email software connect just fine, or I get a connection that stays on for about 10 minutes and then drops off.

From what I've seen in all the forums, this is what a huge number of people seem to be experiencing.

TimeWarner swears that there is no conspiracy; there is no filtering, there is no blocking. The tech people swear that their setups work and their friends setups work and that there is no rolling testing across trial nodes of any anti-p2p conspiratorial nonsense. The problem is not my ISP.

I'm using an older Linksys wireless router. My intution is that this router is the source of the problem.

I have tried port forwarding. It does not seem to help, but the instructions I had were mediocre.

Is there someone out there who, with immediate clarity of recognition, understands what the problem is?

For the love of... there's thousands of posts all over the web with this same issue and everyone says "turn off your firewall" and everyone comes back with, "that didn't help"... and that's the end of the thread. WTF?!?!?!?!

I'm dead, and this is hell. The roof crashed in or something when I was sleeping and I've died... and I didn't confess my sins before I took communion or some stupid technicality, and I've been sent to computer troubleshooting hell for all of eternity.

10 minutes, connection drops, universal problem... That has to be specific enough to where someone can see immediately what the problem is...
