the reason they do that is not because they want to rip people off, they just cant afford it. limewire has (i think) around 60 million people all over the world that have there software installed. if just 0.01% of those people ordered the limewire cd for a cheap price, then limewire would go out of buisness with all the cd orders coming in soo fast with all the needed updates.
And it wouldnt be feasable for LimeWire LLC to give online updates either for CD buyers of the software because there database was not intended for that and is not setup for that. it would be a headache to keep track of all those cd buyers that need there own "pro" page to keep there software current.
they tell you most of what i said earlier how you wont get updates. BUT they warned you.
if you want a cd, purchase and download limewire pro, download the JRE offline installer, download and unzip the userguide.zip file available in html format, burn the cd, make a cd-cover with a lime on the front of it that says what its version is. print the limewire splash screen onto the front of the case, boom... you have your self a bootlegged version of the limewire pro cd.
