Tried restarting several times during the day and had no luck. After reading stief's reply I ran the install again with the console open and low and behold it installed this time. I'm sure that wasn't the effect that console was supposed to have, I assume it was simply to give me a break down of what was going wrong but it just installed. Strange. I have had this similar problem of inconsistant installs and wierd things happening after updates, mainly with iTunes and iPods, on my G4 Powermac but I can't explain it. Stief, thanks for your help.
