I don't understand this. How do you get a link speed? If it's only a 256 kbps connection. That would give you a speed of around 27 KB/s.

For a start, AFAIK D-Link modems do not have UPnP abilities. I think you'll find that the case if you do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? I suspect yours will be false which means your modem is acting like a firewall (it uses NAT.) I also use a D-Link but I had to use manual port forwarding to open port 6346 to allow people to upload from me. Sure I could downld but I got much better results once people were uploading from me.

If you're willing to go down the manual port forwarding road, then find your model at the bottom left column here http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
1st step is the hardest but most important; setting up a static ip. If you don't do this properly the process won't work after you reconnect. 2nd step is forwarding port 6346. Wise to do a separate port forward for each of TCP & UDP rather than both at once. You will probably need to reboot your modem for this to be properly saved.
Last step is within LW: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. I've a suspicion that if you do this, your speeds will be more consistent. (No guarantees!)
