You are using peer-to-peer file-sharing software. No one monitors, scans, or even keeps a list of what peers do on the gnutella network. That's the only way it continues to exist, as opposed to Napster. If you want guaranteed safety with downloads you'll have to subscribe to a commercial service.
Never, NEVER, open a file to see if it contains a virus. That's like drinking a liquid to see if it's poison. Read about avoiding problems with dls in this forum (Getting Started Using LW), read about using Peer Guardian and Bitzi. Or, just buy the two songs you want and have no worries. |
