![]() I would suggest the newer iTunes will not do any damage. However if you were to revert back to an older version of iTunes, there is a reasonable chance of some kind of unpleasant side-effect as a result. If you have some kind of back-up storage with sufficient space, it would definitely be worth backing up your iTunes Library first. At least on MacOS, iTunes has one or more hidden settings files which control the library and playlist listings. These are vital to retain (and to backup.) * I would recommend asking this same question here at iTunes forum https://discussions.apple.com/commun...es_for_windows I'm also a member but probably haven't posted there for many years. If you still use your old iPod, it would be worth asking about that as well in regards to a newer iTunes version. Personally I have had the occasional issue with iTunes. But it has been many years since that happened. Issues were either the playlists losing their files and needing to redo them from scratch. Or the entire iTunes Library not loading properly and needing to reload from scratch. But I cannot recall the circumstances upon which these things occurred. During the first decade of the century for a period of time I kept my iTunes library on an external drive for a couple of years, only to discover the drive was buggy from the moment I purchased it. I was having constant issues before I returned to internal HDD storage. Nowadays I have an entire HDD dedicated to iTunes library. |

![]() The last iTunes version for Windows is 12. Are you unable to install it on your Windows version? Edit: I know iTunes for Windows is not quite as good as the Mac version (possibly an understatement.) There were also changes during the versions I did not particularly like. But if you would prefer an older version then possibly https://itunes.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions It appears both oldversion.com (HTTP ERROR 503) and oldapps.com are no longer. At least I cannot seem to access the sites. Two links that reference older app sites: https://techdator.net/best-sites-to-...s-of-software/ https://www.thewindowsclub.com/downl...rsion-software That sounds about right. Typical Apple way of doing things. |

![]() Yes I was just going to post that. Oldapps.com was just working in May I remember. oldversion.com is up now but intermittent. It's Itunes versions of 10.7 and 10.8 and newer will not load onto my computer. I will try that link that you've posted above, thanks. Both of my laptops are 64 bit Win7. But, a simple google of iTunes version for Win 7 brought up this: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2065?locale=en_US (iTunes 12.10.11) According to the System Requirements, it is or should be compatible with 64-bit Win 7. Quote:
Edit: I have just tried installing iTunes 12.10.11 on Win 7. Firstly, my version of Firefox would not show the download button at top of page (but I do have a graphics issue with Win 7 VM.) Thus I downloaded on Mac before transferring. Installing was easier than Win 8. Unlike Win 8 I did not need to choose Run as Admin to open and iTunes opened without issue. But I wonder if this is because I might be using the admin account. Also unlike Win 8, I had a previous version of iTunes on Win 7. |

![]() Success! The 10th+ try or so was a success! Thank you LOTR for the help. I am finally replacing the beloved Gen 2 Model A1040. First dock connector Touch Wheel. The thick old heavy ones that you can actually feel and hear the motor spinning inside. These were the ones that you could only charge from the wall AC 110v. The usb port is only used for up/downloading. The batteries are twice as thick as the newer ones and getting hard to find. Last edited by sleepybear91; July 15th, 2022 at 01:30 AM. |
