Since you do not know about your modem/ router or whatever you use, where do you plug in the jack of the phoneline?? At the back of your computer or is there some box outside the computer?
Do you have any AOL security software installed ( or any other Antivirus/ AntiSpyware program)??
An advice in regard to your graphic card, try to update the driver. Or try setting your graphic card settings back to default. Some had an issue with 3D settings for games. And others had an issue with graphic card driver updates that had problems.
